Hillock bush is a common name for Melaleuca hypericifolia, is a plant in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), genus Melaleuca, and is endemic to New South Wales, Australia. Commonly been referred to as bottlebrushes because of their cylindrical, brush like flowers resembling a traditional bottle brush. This species is known for its large, striking orange to red flower spikes, making it a popular choice for cultivation.
In 1797, botanist James Edward Smith described it as:
“The most beautiful of the genus.”
